About ZAMORAography - by Javier Zamora
Hi, my name is Javier Zamora. I am a photographer that specializes in On-Location Portraits, Action Sports photography and Sports Portraiture.
I didn’t discover photography until after high school; when I was introduced to a beautiful 1970’s-era Minolta SLR by an uncle.
I didn't actually start using the camera until my first son was born a little more than 10 years ago. Even though I did attend a University, I did not have any formal training in photography or lighting when I started shooting for several boxing websites and eventually the Florida Marlins' Triple-A (Now the Los Angeles Dodgers) minor league baseball team. It was because of my work in baseball that eventually lead me to shoot for the leading sports and portrait studio in New Mexico as well as various online sports news sites such as Sherdog.com, MiLB.com, BoxingTalk.com, MLB.com, and many others.
Professionally, I've been shooting action sports and portraits for 8 years. I'm a photojournalist at heart. My inspirations were the photos of Eisenstadt, Capa and Bresson as well as many of the great photojournalists of today like Carolyn Cole, Wally Skallij and anybody from the VII agency. I love being in the moment. I love to tell a story, no matter what the story or whose story it is.
I still love shooting film, especially black and white with my Mamiya 645. There's nothing quite like a darkroom print from a medium format camera. =)
I appreciate you taking the time to visit my site. If you have any questions, comments, or cool ideas for a shoot, theres a hundred different ways to get a hold of me. But it's easier to just email, text, or call me.
Thanks!
Javier Zamora
